Accessible Bathroom Basics
Start with the basics for accessible bathrooms: choose the sanitary ware that is right for you. There is a huge choice nowadays, so allow time to look at your options and make the right choice. Locally-based retailers have the advantage that you may be able to see the units “in the flesh” which will help you decide. On-line retailers may be cheaper, but can you really see what you’re buying from a photo?
It’s important to check on delivery arrangements. How long to deliver, and what delivery slots are on offer? Are you happy to be around from dawn till dusk for that courier? And what if a unit arrives which is incorrect, damaged, or missing a part? How long will it take to deliver a replacement? You don’t want to be paying your installer to sit around waiting for a delivery. It’s a good idea, if you have storage space such as a garage, to order well in advance and then you can check that everything has arrived intact. If you employ a company to supply and install, then the delivery is their responsibility, and that’s one less worry for you! A good designer will also be a great help. There’s more to designing a bathroom layout than you may think! Will the plumbing allow this unit to go there? Will the bathroom feel crowded if I buy this? Aquaneed uses its own specialist software to help design your layout to meet your needs – and you get a 3D picture of what your bathroom will look like!
